Review of exhibition, February 1996.
In these days the exhibition of graduate artist Tatiana Zitnanova is taking place in International House of Art for Children under the attractive name Witchy World. Tatiana Zitnanova is graduate from University of Arts, Bratislava; branch Book illustration headed by Professor Albin Brunovsky. Her main field is artistic work for children. With her illustration she animated books from Mlade Leta and SPN publishing houses, children magazines (Vcielka, Zornicka, Ohnik) and children crossword magazine Kubo, whose visual form was created solely by her.
Summarization and most vivid communication of her work is exactly current exhibition Witchy World. It takes place in Bratislava's International House of Art for Children BIBIANA. Together with curator Katarina Bajcurova, author of exhibition concept, she reanimates kind of space-guide of children's world. Presented illustrations are combined in different thematic groups, thus creating separate worlds: Four Seazons, Fairy Tale, World, Cheerful School, Witchy World. Pictures are often placed in scenic sequence with point at the end. As a matter of fact many of them were created primarily for magazines. As for example one can find illustrations created for magazine Kubo in thematic group World, thus they include crossword exercises hidden under visual symbols.
At the exhibition the free visual art of Tatiana Zitnanova is on display represented by oil and tempera canvases. Certainly that represents the most difficult part of exhibition for child perceiver, yet children may try decipher abstract symbols and artistic conceptions.
Tatiana Zitnanova understand's children, her outstanding work is the ultimate proof. That is the most convincing argument of quality.
