Tatiana Zitnanova

Tatiana Zitnanova was born on 13th Jun 1956 in the town of Presov, third largest town in Slovakia, situated in north-eastern part of country. Between 1971-75 she was studying at High School for Applied Arts in Kosice. She continued her studies with university education between 1975-82 at Academy of Fine Art in Bratislava, particularly at department of illustration and graphics headed by Prof. Albin Brunovsky. 

Since her studies she is fully devoted to illustration (books as well as magazines), with thematically rich repertoire, raging from children's fiction, magazines for both children and adults to graphic concepts and illustrations of books or book covers for adult's literature. She illustrated large number of textbooks from different subjects, including languages, literature, physics and mathematics. 

Her other works could be divided into three basic thematic fields. First and definitely her major theme is thematic of turf and horse's world. She present's it with wide scale of techniques (classical as well as computer-based graphic, aquarelle and oil paintings, pastels, textile works) and with different artistic stylization, ranging from graphical abbreviation bordering with abstraction through more expressionistic or impressionistic to classically featured objects). Second theme is nature and landscape, both real and perceived through refined artistic senses, or even feelings materialized into landscape, often with indication of figure, person or animal fading away from viewer's eye into depths of painting. Third group are abstract pictures full or shapes and characters adopting the meaning according to angle of view, depending solely on fantasy of viewer.

Beside creative work he dedicated herself for work with children, either by organizing or taking part in different kind of workshops. She works regularly as master-lector of children's workshop of Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava.
